The compact Dodge Caliber is produced by Chrysler, a parent company of Dodge. It was first introduced in the model year 2006 as 2007 model. It is a 5-door hatchback model, first shown at Geneva Motor Show in 2005.
It is one of the modern brands in Asian, European and Australian markets.
First Generation (2007- Present)
The first generation Dodge Caliber model is offered in four trim versions, the base model SE, SXT, R/T and SRT4.
The base model Dodge Caliber is offered in front wheel drive and comes powered by 1.8 liter I-4 engine that delivers 148 hp of power. It is mated to 5-speed manual transmission. The other engine available to the model includes a 2.0 liter version that delivers 158 hp of power and comes mated to CVT transmission. The other engines available to the model include 2.4 liter version that delivers 172 hp of power.
The key features that attract potential customers towards the Dodge Caliber model include passenger and cargo room and instrument controls. On the other hand, visibility, engine noise and acceleration are considered as main drawbacks.

The up-level SRT4 model comes equipped with 2.4 liter turbo charged engine that produces 285 hp of power and 260 lb ft of torque. It comes mated to a standard 6-speed manual transmission.
The Dodge Caliber model is slightly redesigned for 2009. The new features in the model include navigation system with real time traffic information, wireless cell phone link, UConnect multi media suite and 30GB hard drive. Major competitors to the model include Mazda 3, Nissan Versa, Scion xB, Chevrolet HHR and Honda Civic.
